Books by Anita Nair

A lady traveling in "Ladies coupe" from Bangalore to Kanyakumari, gets to hear about the lives of her co-passengers. Their "Lessons in forgetting" cognizes her real purpose of life to such an extent that she does not shy away from trying "Satyr of the subway"!

Well, that’s Anita Nair! Her stories are complex and contemporary centered around women of all ages, concentrating hard on the trials and tribulations they encounter during the span of their lives.

After reading her novels, various thoughts clog my mind:-Are most women nymphomaniac? Do they always want to be desired and drooled over? Do they feel lonely and lifeless even in their marriage? Or are these just the fits of imagination of the author?

Any thoughts?

I personally don't think all women are nymphomaniacs - again, even using the word 'all' or 'none' is probably not right. But, for argument's sake, let's just assume 'all' stands for 'most'. 'All' women, and for that matter, men too - are attention seeking and do want to be desired. I believe it's quite natural. When someone transcends these desires and emotions - he/she becomes a yogi(saint) or a perfect human. The degree of wanting to be desired and attended upon varies from person to person. I haven't read Anita Nair's books but if reading her books gives someone a generalized opinion, either her work is not worth reading or she isn't conveying her ideas across well. And NO - I am not generalizing her writing style based on one book :). Of course, it finally comes down to the individual, the reader, who chooses to read but not agree to everything an author writes - the educated reader.

that's an interesting thought though...i don't think that it's women wanting to be "desired" in a lot of cases so much as appreciated, but that's just me.
